Crawfish Mambo is the signature fundraiser of the UNO Alumni Association and raises funds to help address the University of New Orlean’s priority need as expressed by the University Administration: Student Success, Recruitment and Retention. Made up of former students, the Alumni Association understands their needs, is committed to help and has focused its efforts on supporting UNO students through professional development programs including “Dine Like a Pro” Etiquette Luncheons, Resume Review workshops, Professional Role Model and Mentoring initiatives, and more. The Association’s mission is to support the University, its students, faculty and alumni; it supports activities aimed at promoting Louisiana’s most diverse university and New Orleans’ only public research university, the University of New Orleans. More details about the activities hosted and sponsored by the Association may be found at www.unoalumni.com.
Mambo helps raises funds to support the success of students at Louisiana’s most diverse university, the University of New Orleans. Credited with creating the region’s middle class, UNO continues to provide high-quality and affordable education. But as you’ve doubtless read, years of dramatic state budget cuts have had serious impacts and, like other schools nation-wide, the importance of outside support has increased exponentially. Meanwhile, increasing tuition levels mean that job placement after graduation is more important to current and prospective students than ever before. Your investment in Crawfish Mambo will enable us expand, create and enhance career preparation programs to help the University of New Orleans recruit, retain, and graduate local students prepared for today’s competitive job market.
Funds raised from Crawfish Mambo support programs to prepare the region’s future workforce (your future employees)through professional development initiatives such as a dining and social etiquette luncheons, resume review workshops, and networking events. The vast majority of our students come from our region, and the great majority of our alumni stay and work in our region, becoming the region’s professional, educational, political, civic, scientific, and cultural leaders. Helping give them the skills they need now will help our employers get the skilled employees they need later.
As the home of the Mambo Festival UNO is listed on all Mambo marketing materials keeping the University of New Orleans visible in the community and well beyond. By bringing more people out to the University of New Orleans than any other single event throughout the year, Mambo gives UNO the chance to show off our lakefront campus in a memorable, uniquely New Orleans style. Each year Mambo attracts guests – and even boil teams- from further around the country, many of whom are seeing UNO for the first time.
Crawfish Mambo has grown into New Orleans’ Largest Crawfish Cook-Off. We anticipate 5,000 guests from across the region and beyond to join us this year. By participating as a sponsor, your organization will benefit not only from exposure at the event itself but from extended event media campaigns and promotional efforts utilizing social media, direct email, print and website advertising as well as radio and television spots. In addition to inclusion in Crawfish Mambo’s advertisements, your company’s logo will be featured on sponsor banners throughout the event.
Hosting a company crawfish boil is a lot of work, not to mention expense. That’s why our Mambo Party Packages are so popular. We’ll do all the work. You and your guests enjoy exclusive and tented space to mingle and to sample crawfish boiled all day long cooked by up to 100 teams competing while 4-5 of New Orleans’ hottest bands keep you dancing.
While the mission you are supporting is important, Mambo is nothing if not fun. Where else can you sample up to 100 different crawfish boils ALL DAY LONG while listening to reknowned, live local? It’s the best of New Orleans’ traditions: boiled crawfish, live music, friends and family, festivals, competition, and UNO. We’re not surprised that Mambo grows each year. You won’t be either!
